What is the J-1 Exchange Visitor Program?
J-1 visa is an Exchange Visitor non-immigrant visa issued by the United States to promote global understanding by means of educational and cultural exchange. It was created based on the Fulbright–Hays Act of 1961, also known as the Mutual Educational and Cultural Exchange Act of 1961.
The J-1 Exchange Visitor Program, managed by the U.S. Department of State, provides opportunities for international visitors to experience United States society and culture and engage with Americans by participating in approved work-and-study-based programs.
